Board Certified Prosthodontist

Dr. Reena M. Varghese is a Board Certified Prosthodontist with a double Master's degree.  She was the youngest female to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists

After completing four years of dental school, prosthodontists complete an extra three years of specialized training through a hospital or university-based program accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA). Graduate programs in prosthodontics include classroom lectures, literature reviews, seminars, and laboratory and clinical training in all aspects of dental health and restoration.

Becoming Board Certified

After completing the residency program, prosthodontists have the option of applying for Board Certification. The process, which is administered by the American Board of Prosthodontics, requires the candidates to demonstrate the highest integration of clinical and didactic knowledge and successfully complete a comprehensive written examination and a rigorous series of oral examinations. The process of becoming board certified can take up to seven years. Once certified, the prosthodontist is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. To maintain their certification, Diplomates must demonstrate their commitment to their continuing professional education by attending or presenting scientific lectures or publishing articles or textbook chapters and is subjected to recertification every eight years to ensure that he/she is current in practices that affect the prosthodontic specialty.
